Why a page on ceramics? Two reasons:

First and foremost, because my wife, Eve (Dolly) Hope is the designer at Rampini Ceramics, arguably the best producer of hand painted ceramics in Italy.

Secondly, because we often include a visit to Rampini's ceramics factory into our customized walking itineraries in Chianti. However, if you can't make it to Chianti with us, or even to Florence, you can always admire their ceramics and buy on line at www.rampiniceramics.com.

Rampini's does of course have a show room and shop at their factory in the Chianti countryside, between the wine villages of Radda in Chianti and Gaiole in Chianti.

If you should be on our regular Tuscany Walking trip that starts from Florence you may like to visit their shop in Florence, which is located close to the Arno river in Piazza Borgo Ognissanti.

Here are some of my wife's patterns just to give you a taste. You can see that they are a mix of traditional patterns inspired from the long tradition of Italian ceramics as well as bright new patterns emanating from the designer's love of colour and composition.

This is a scenic hone hour drive from Florence and a leisurely forty five minute drive from Siena. The factory is located in an old Tuscany farm house amongst the vineyards, olive groves and forest of the Villa Vistarenni. It is located about 5 kms from Radda in Chianti on the road to Gaiole in Chianti. Please call from within Italy: 0577 738 043 to get detailed directions from the English speaking staff at Rampini's. It is easy to find.

Otherwise, you can visit their showroom in Florence located between the Grand Hotel and the Majestic Hotel, just down from the Ponte Vecchio in the beautiful Piazza of Borgo Ognissanti.
